There's Still Time In This Year
The next time this blue moon appears is 2053.
I’m watching Kung Fu Panda 2, glancing up into the night sky, and I keep drifting back to the number. 2053. I’ll be in my sixties the next time I see this exact moon. Who will I be? Will I have a legacy? What will my life’s work add up to?
It’s a question I get but can’t quite comprehend. So we try to shrink time.
It’s the last Sunday in May. Halfway through the year, a new month tomorrow. A chance to reset, re-evaluate the goals, maybe take on new challenges. Again, we carve the year into bite-sized pieces so we don’t have to hold the thought of what a life is supposed to add up to.
But the moon is a reminder. We label it a blue moon and it still doesn’t change. It orbits, and shows its face when its cycle calls for it. The year’s the same - we label it, but it’s still the year. And in this year, there’s still time to build the things that give you fulfilment and joy.
To the new month. Lets push.
